New Years Eve party outfit 2

The leggings to me are optional, I mean who isn't driving to events anymore, plus body heat in the foot area is apparent as I always see women wearing shoes less on the winter side during winter, plus it might be warmer that regular that night.

Store Closing but I think us fashionistas will enjoy this...

R.I.P. Temperly London: NYC Store Closing With Huge Blow-Out Sale

By: Kristian Laliberte

Keywords:

alice-temperley-big.jpgThey're pros and cons of working a stone's throw from Broome Street. The soon-to-be opened Alexander Wang store, Isabel Marant's boutique, Temperely London second floor shop...hell, the only cons seem to be how empty our wallets get after a walk 'round the block. Well, insert sad face here—our lunch break just got a little bit less extended after hearing the depressings news—Alice Temperley is shutting down her SoHo store this Friday. The silver lining? The it-Brit designer is having a massive blow-out sale, with everything marked down 60%-75% off, including the current spring '11 collection. Shave some pounds (get it?) off your X-mas list: The pretty, parlor-like space, that also doubles as a showroom, has got dresses, jumpsuits, bags, and even bridal on tap for less. If your budget it not wedding-worthy, stocking stuffers include belts, keychains, and the cutest little candles! So, while we're shedding a tear or three over this Anglo-exit, don't call us Scrooge if we're also a little amped, albeit temporarily. We know Alice will be back in the New Year.

    Temperley London Closing Sale, Until December 17, 453 Broome Street, 2nd Floor, 212-219-2929. 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Nicole Richie got Married...Look at the DRESS!!!

Nicole Richie got married to Good Charlotte's front man Joel Madden on December 11, 2010. Now all the official pictures are out yet, but apparently Nicole (one of my fave fashionistas) wore three different dresses all by Marchesa during the event...which is how I think it should be done. The wedding took place at Nicole's daddy Lionel Richie's LA home. I personally thought she would go with a vintage designer gown, kinda like Carrie Did in SATC 1...What do you guys think???

DIY Fashion: Make it your OWN

    DIY Fashion: The Splatter-Paint Trend

    By: Erica Domesekdiy-splatter-jeans-shoes-inspiration.jpg

This spring, we're seeing artisans and designers collide with splatter-paint fashions that range from shoes to apparel and accessories. So, in this edition of R29 DIY, I'm channeling my inner Jackson Pollock and paying homage to the late and great Alexander McQueen, and other designers such as Tory Burch and Proenza Schouler who recently showed collections during Fashion Week that painted smiles on our faces.

Reach into your closet to breathe some colorful new life into existing items with vibrant paint shades that scream I'm a Rebel (and a cool one!). Keep in mind, with this project, all imperfections are, in fact, perfect. The more random your strokes and splatters, the better!

Military Style, Fashion's friend for life.

3 Ways To Get Spring's Military Style Just Right

By: Christene Barberich & Piera Gelardi

Every few years a trend returns, and somehow, we don't know why, it feels fresher than ever. Such was the case last fall when we first saw the models stomping down Balmain's spring runway, and we knew military style was going to be big—but not in the same way it once was. Paired with embellished epaulets, skinny leather leggings, and the highest heels, Balmain proved classic military stylings could go beyond the typical blend-in hippie vibe and reveal a bold new brand of rebellion. Sexy, sophisticated, tough, coquettish, and back again, this spring's military style goes the distance, and so, we've rounded up our three top takes on the returning trend: Feminine, Classic, and Tough. Because many of you probably have an old favorite military jacket lurking somewhere in your closet, we're also sneaking in some shopping tips on how to give it your own renewed spin this spring.

    1. Classic—With an emphasis on sharp tailoring and masculine lines, classic military style has a bold effect when you pair it with some skin or a really high heel. In the mix: Oversized button-down, tailored jacket, stiletto booties.

    2. Feminine—From fitted cargo pants to a sweeping USO-style "army" dress, military's feminine take puts an emphasis on playful details and curvier silhouettes. In the mix: Vintage brooch, chunky necklace, skinny belts.

Crew Ripstop Cargo Pants, $39.99, available at J. Crew; Martin + Osa Skinny Belt, $59.50, available at Martin + Osa.

    3. Tough—The heart-and-soul of Balmain's masterful collection, military's tough side is taps into a woman's confident, sexy side by mixing up some edgier basics. In the mix: Skinny leather jeans, heavy-duty boots, cropped cadet-style jacket.

NYC FASHION WEEK is OVER time to go shopping.....

I remember the days when the seasons were so far apart from clothing shown at fashion week seemed to be so far fetched that people would only dream of wearing them, but with global warming and the ever fast moving clock fall is around the corner and shopping season is even faster approaching. This season many designers went with more wearble high fashion pieces that can be added to the simplest of ensemble to a straight of the runway look.

With designers signing on to work with department stors to create lower price point varaitons of they higher price point collections, the growing fashioniable public will be able to afford the same designer label for less money.

Outfit of the Day: DJ Hipnotic

Recently I met this guy, I found out he was a DJ and a dam good one. His name, DJ Hipnotic, check him out on youtube, username: therealhipnotic. There was one thing that I wanted to do with him apart from the obvious wink wink ............................I wanted to style him. To me he was a blank canvas and I wanted to be Picasso. So today I pulled my hair out and pulled this together for him. Now remember I mostly style women but I think I have a chance with men as well.

    Alexander Mcqueen: The History........The Legend

    Who he was?
Born in the East End of London, the son of a taxi driver, McQueen started making dresses for his three sisters at a young age and announced his intention of becoming a fashion designer. He said that one of his earliest memories was from around the age of 3 when he drew a picture of a dress on a piece of bare wall which had been exposed by peeling wallpaper in the council house where his family lived. McQueen jokingly called it his first design sketch.

McQueen left Rokeby School at 16, landing himself an apprenticeship with Savile Row tailors Anderson and Sheppard, then working for Gieves & Hawkes and the famous theatrical costumiers Angels and Bermans. Whilst on Savile Row, McQueen's clients included Mikhail Gorbachev and Charles, Prince of Wales. At the age of 20, he spent a period of time working for Koji Tatsuno before travelling to Milan, Italy and working for Romeo Gigli.

McQueen returned to London in 1994 and applied to London's most prestigious fashion school, Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design to work as a pattern cutter tutor. Due to the strength of his portfolio he was persuaded by the Head of the Masters course to enrol on the course as a student. He received his Masters degree in Fashion design and famously, his graduation collection was bought in its entirety by influential fashion stylist Isabella Blow, who was said to have persuaded McQueen to change his name from Lee to Alexander (his middle name) when he subsequently launched his fashion career.

Alexander McQueen's early runway collections developed his reputation for controversy and shock tactics (earning the title "l'enfant terrible" and "the hooligan of English fashion"), with trousers aptly named "bumsters", and a collection entitled "Highland Rape". McQueen was known for his lavish, unconventional runway shows, such as a recreation of a shipwreck for his spring 2003 collection, spring 2005’s human chess game and his fall 2006 show, Widows of Culloden, which featured a life-sized hologram of supermodel Kate Moss, dressed in yards of rippling fabric.

The president of LVMH, Bernard Arnault caused a stir when he instated McQueen as head designer at Givenchy in 1996, succeeding John Galliano. Upon arrival at Givenchy, McQueen insulted the founder by calling him ‘irrelevant’. Thus, his first couture collection with Givenchy was unsuccessful, with even McQueen telling Vogue in October 1997 that the collection was “crap”. McQueen toned down his act at Givenchy, but continued to indulge his rebellious streak, causing controversy in Autumn 1998 with a show which included car-robots spraying paint over white cotton dresses, and double amputee model Aimee Mullins striding down the catwalk on intricately carved wooden legs. McQueen stayed with Givenchy until March 2001, when the contract he said was "constraining his creativity" was ended.

Some of Alexander McQueen's accomplishments included being one of the youngest designers to achieve the title "British Designer of the Year", which he won four times between 1996 and 2003. He was also awarded the CBE, as well as being named International Designer of the Year at the Council of Fashion Designer Awards. December 2000 saw a new partnership for McQueen with Gucci Group acquiring 51% of the company, and McQueen serving as Creative Director. Plans for expansion included the opening of stores in London, Milan, and New York, and the launch of his perfumes Kingdom, and more recently My Queen. In 2005, McQueen collaborated with Puma to create a special line of trainers for the shoe brand.

McQueen became the first designer to participate in MAC's newest promotion: cosmetic releases created by fashion designers. The collection, McQueen, was released on 11 October 2007 and reflects the looks used on the Autumn/Winter McQueen catwalk. The inspiration for the collection was the Elizabeth Taylor movie Cleopatra, and thus the models sported intense blue, green, and teal eyes with strong black liner extended Egyptian-style. McQueen handpicked the makeup.

By the end of 2007, Alexander McQueen had boutiques in New York, London, Los Angeles, Milan, and Las Vegas. Icelandic singer Björk sought McQueen's work for the cover of her album Homogenic in 1997. Grammy winning trend setter Rihanna is one of the many famous celebrities that frequently wears Alexander McQueen, often seen wearing the pieces of clothing to events. Another is Lady GaGa, whose unique style often incorporates Alexander McQueen pieces in her music videos. As of 14 July 2008, the Alexander McQueen internet store has launched on the company website, allowing shoppers to purchase ready-to-wear and accessories online.

    RIP Alexander Mcqueen

LONDON – British fashion designer Alexander McQueen has been found dead at his London home, his spokeswoman said. He was 40 years old.

Company spokeswoman Samantha Garrett said McQueen's body was discovered Thursday morning but said she had no information "in terms of circumstances."

Police did not directly comment when asked about how McQueen died, but said officers were called by the ambulance service at 10:20 a.m. (1020 GMT) to an address on Green Street, in central London, and found a 40-year-old man dead. They did not name him but said next of kin had been informed.

The force said a post-mortem would be conducted but that the death was not being treated as suspicious.

The 52nd Grammy awards: Jennifer Hudson

Jennifer Hudsonlooked exceptionally glam standing next to Hubby David Otunga (Punk, my ex hubby), she stunned the crowd in this Victoria Beckham creation and looking just as statuasque and slenderas the designer herself.

The Grammy Awards Fashion Chronicles: Beyonce

Now known only by Beyonce or SASHA fierce, Beyonce Knowles has been climbing the charts and making a major name for herself in every community. Her looks for the grammys didn't give me that NEW Beyonce aka SASHA Fierce message through
This dress reminds me of the ol' Desting's Child days, I am waiting to see Kelly in a shorts verison and Michelle in a pants version. And the hair was limp and boring. Not what I was expecting on the Red Carpet from Ms. B

This should have been her red carpet look right here, the gives me the NEW Beyonce
Now everybody in the looks dapper except Bee, that dress just wasn't working for me AT ALL.

The 52nd Annual Grammy Awards: Lady GaGa

Now in this day and age where fashion is the easy to follow for celebrites, everybody should be on the straight and narrow with their style and the image they are trying to achieve. One person who always seems to hit it out the park with lady GaGa and every award ceremony she leaves your mouth agape with her numerous costume/outfit changes while keeping true to her self and fans as the different PERSON we all know.

I gave her 4 STARs as usually she went for kill and cases a massacure, from her clothing options to her performance with Elton John I say Lady gaGa has taken 2010
